Just Around the Corner
I have a dear friend who was born in May. On one November evening, he said to group of us, “My birthday is just around the corner.” We’ve never let him forget he said that and how silly it sounded.
As time goes on, though, I realize more and more that he was right. Time moves faster and faster as we age and everything feels as if is coming very soon.
Advent is a special time. It reminds us that Christmas is just around the corner. It also helps us to slow down and focus on the gifts God gives us in Jesus’s birth. Let’s savor these weeks leading up to Christmas Eve and learn what we can from them!
A faint yet glistening frost at dawn
Reflects a colder clime
Yet music all around is joyful
Cheerful songs that rhyme
You may be full of glee right now
Or blue at Christmas time
Let all who seek the love of God
Hear hope in bells that chime
The days are coming soon, my friends
Days of truth sublime
