We are an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ. It is with the spirit and the love of God that we openly welcome all persons, inclusive of every race, ethnicity, class, age, gender, physical or mental ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression and inclusive of any others, to journey with us as we move forward with the work of this church in the world.
The annual stewardship pledge is our yearly commitment by each member of our church community to support the church by prayerfully donating a portion of our annual income to the church. Our theme this year is focusing on being “Stewards of God’s Gifts”. For Christians, this means managing the resources God brought into our lives and to use them to honor Him. One of those gifts is the income that each of us receives. Returning a portion to the church allows our community to continue to be stewards for God. A pledge to HCC can be made online by going to the PLEDGE button below..
Please join us for our traditional Advent Soup Brunch after the 10:00 service on December 15th. If you would like to share a soup, please follow the link below.
Many hands are needed for this important fundraiser to support our Youth and our Faith Formation. Please sign up to help the cause.
UPDATE: Tree unloading happened unexpectedly on 11/23!
Christmas trees are up in the sanctuary! Please consider taking a tag from a tree and purchasing the requested item. These gifts have been requested by some of the agencies we support: Father Bill’s & Mainspring, Wellspring, Interfaith Social Services, Pine Street Inn, DOVE, and Cardinal Cushing Center. Items must be returned by Sunday, December 15 in order to deliver them on time. Please leave your item (unwrapped unless specified and with the tag attached) in the library in Hale Hall, the church office, or contact the church office and we can arrange to have it picked up. Thank you for supporting those in need on the South Shore.
Of course, every day should be America Recycles Day!! But this is a yearly effort to highlight the importance of recycling, since our national recycling rate is at only 33%. This rate IS up from the 1960 rate of 7%, but the goal of the EPA (at least prior to Jan. 20!!!) is 50% by 2030.
From the TOP 10 IN THE BIN list: 1) cardboard, 2) paper, 3) food boxes (not frozen foods), 4) mail, 5) beverage & food cans, 6) glass and plastic bottles, jars & jugs, and plastic bottles with tops. It is important to check with your local provider as to what is recyclable .Hingham Transfer Station, of course, also recycles such items as electronics, books, and textiles. (Don’t forget the Consignment Center and Swap Shoppe for re-usables!!!) And some local stores (like BigY, Staples, and Stop & Shop in Cohasset) recycle plastic bags.
