Giving Twice

Giving Twice

Sunday, December 4, 2016

As we once again tell the familiar story of the gift God gave long ago, the Church School teachers will be helping the children and youth select special Christmas gifts for their family members that in turn provide support for other local families.

On December 4th, teachers will be taking their classes to the GAR Hall during part of Church School where they will, with the help of Middle School youth and Consignment Center volunteers, have time to purchase and wrap simple gifts. At the end of worship, parents and guardians will pick up children as they normally would – in their classrooms.

Thanks to Consignment center

Parents and guardians of young children should bring a completed shopping list with appropriate spending money in an envelope marked with their child’s name (there will be gifts priced as low as $1-2; keep in mind there will really only be time to purchase one or two gifts). The envelope will be returned to you with your list and any remaining change. The proceeds to the Consignment Center go right back to community outreach!! This year the giving will be allocated to Pine Street Inn, an organization with which our congregation has a longstanding relationship. This will help hungry folks be fed during the holiday season.

The Board of Christian Education and Board of Outreach hope that this will help young people enjoy the anticipation of the Advent season and practice acts of meaningful giving with simplicity and love.
